About

Originally laid out by Edwin Lutyens in 1912, the gardens of the Salutation near Sandwich have defied years of neglect and catastrophic flooding to bloom into one of the most beautiful spots in Kent. Now owned by Steph and Dom Parker, stars of Channel 4’s Googlebox, the house is a boutique hotel and the gardens are open to the public.

In this special talk, the Salutation’s Head Gardener, Steve Edney, will tell the dramatic story of the latest restoration and how, after 5 million litres of sea water had been pumped away, the gardens were recalled to life.

The talk will take place at the nearby Culford Village Hall followed by tea and cake served at Fullers Mill Garden, where a leisurely stroll can be taken around the garden.

Advance booking preferred. Call 01284 728888 or send SAE with payment to Fullers Mill Garden, West Stow, Bury St Edmunds, IP28 6HD.
