Starting at Brockhampton Cottage, owner Peter Clay, co-founder of Crocus the online retailer will lead us up the valley through beautiful wildflower meadows.
He will explain the creation of these gardens by Tom Stuart-Smith from 1999 and how they have evolved. There is much to see at this dazzling hilltop garden including a woodland and wildflower meadow, a Perry pear orchard, lake, stream and arboretum.
We will arrive at the stunning Laskett Gardens where we will be joined by Sir Roy Strong for a delicious Sussex trug picnic lunch with a glass of fizz.
The Laskett’s four acre garden tells the story of Sir Roy and his late wife Dr Julia Trevelyan Oman’s marriage and their creative lives through a series of garden rooms.
These include a rose garden, pleached lime avenue, fountains and statuary as well as a spectacular array of topiary, rich herbaceous and prairie style borders and the Belvedere which affords a wonderful view across the gardens.
After an afternoon exploring the gardens tea will be served.
* Neither garden is suitable for wheelchair users.
