Futurescape 2015: another successful trade show

Perennial was delighted to be back at Futurescape last week. Development Manager Kate O’Shea reflects on another successful trade show, building links and spreading the word about the UK’s only charity dedicated to helping all horticulturists when times get tough.

“We really appreciate the support we receive from the Eljays team led by Jim and Lisa Wilkinson and were thrilled to be offered a stand at Futurescape, which this year incorporated the new Arbscape. It was a very busy show; we met with lots of old friends and made many new ones. It’s always great to be able to talk to the horticultural world about the work we do and how we help all those working in or retired from horticulture. It was also a good opportunity to shout about the fantastic support we receive from horticultural employers.”

Perennial presented Clive Ivil, MD of Quadron Services, with their Platinum Perennial Partner certificate. The certificate was presented by Mark Gregory, Chair of the APL and MD of Landform Consultants, who is the Perennial Ambassador for the Perennial Partner Programme, which gives companies the opportunity to make a sustainable contribution to the work of Perennial and offers valuable promotion via the Perennial website, events and social media channels throughout the year. Clive and Mark are both long established supporters of Perennial and of course are both Perennial Partners.

Kate continues,

“It was great to see so many Perennial Partners at the show including Quadron Services, Landform Consultants, Bowles & Wyer, Outdoor Options, Oakview Landscapes, Silverland Stone, Outdoor Room, Arb Association, Rochfords, CED Stone, Glendale, Green-Tech, Platipus, Ginger Horticulture (Jonathan Ward of Ginger Horticulture also took these great photos), London Stone Trade Club and Majestic Trees who had an impressive display of awards on their stand. It was also lovely to see so many of the Extreme Three Peaks team at the show, who raised over £26k for Perennial in 2013 and are set for their next challenge in 2016. Watch this space for news!”

Kate managed to catch up with several other amazing Perennial fundraisers at the show: Marathon Man Nigel Bowcock of Acre Landscapes, who raised £3k for us earlier this year although has since hung up his running shoes! Grubby Gardeners David Lewis and Darren Jacques of naked calendar fame who are both busy with show garden submissions. And many of the trade associations who support Perennial were also at the show, so a big thank you to them for all their support. (APL, Arb Association,  BALI and  Society of Garden Designers).

Kate concludes,

“We had a great meeting with the Green-Tech / John Chambers team who are looking to expand their range of products on our website and through our newly refurbished shop at York Gate Garden near Leeds. We had companies pledging to become Partners, others wishing to discuss sponsorship and everyone wanted to hear more about what we do. What a fabulous show……..in fact it’s just one big thank you to the world of horticulture.”
