Perennial has a rich heritage of improving people’s lives. We help anyone who makes or looks after gardens, parks, sports grounds, woodlands and other green spaces. If someone work’s with plants, trees or grass, or work in the places where they grow, Perennial is their charity. Our friendly and experienced team helps individuals and families through life-changing events with free and confidential personal support, for as long as they need it.
We understand the personal challenges and financial pressures that might be faced by people who work in horticulture, arboriculture or forestry. We offer a lifeline, with practical and personal support designed around each person. We can visit at home or be just at the end of the telephone.
We help around 1,500 people and their families every year. Many people we help have been through a life-changing event, such as serious injury, long-term illness, losing a family member, redundancy or other problems at home. Others simply can’t afford to live on their regular wage and feel they have no choice but to borrow money to make ends meet. We can help, whatever the problem.
We are committed to a future in which all people in horticulture are aware of us, understand what help they can receive from us, and are confident to get in touch should they need our help.
How you can help make a difference
Our purpose is to ‘Build better futures for people in horticulture and their families’. We believe that no one should be denied help simply because they are not aware of Perennial, so our vision is that everyone in horticulture will be aware of Perennial, understand what help they can receive from us, and will be confident to get in touch if they need us.
To realise this goal we are dedicated to increasing awareness of Perennial which means investing in our marketing and fundraising team. Over the last year the team has grown with the recruitment of 8 new members of staff, including corporate partnership managers to develop better relationships with businesses within horticulture, and a community fundraising manager to manage our volunteer groups and develop community fundraising around the UK.
Over the past year a consultant has been working with us to develop the marketing function. The opportunities are huge. We have recruited two new marketing officers to join our communications officer. We have been working on new activities to celebrate our 180th birthday, including show gardens at RHS Cardiff Flower Show, the Harrogate Flower Show and the world’s most prestigious horticultural event of the year the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. We have created a new brand which will be launched at Chelsea in May which clearly explains what we do.
So now it’s time for a full time Marketing Manager to join our ever-growing Marketing & Fundraising Team in Leatherhead. This role will give you the opportunity to manage the full marketing mix, and in particular develop Perennial’s online presence, including creating a new website, and delve into our supporter database to increase our engagement by communicating in a targeted way. By playing a vital role in significantly increasing Perennial’s awareness you will be making a difference to the lives of those who, as a result, come to us for help.
Closing date for applications is: 23 April 2019.
