Sir Roy Strong CH, owner of The Laskett Gardens who last year announced his intention to bequeath the gardens to Perennial, recently opened the Cards for Good Causes shop in Hereford. Sir Roy met with volunteers and shoppers before cutting the ribbon at a ceremony in October before purchasing cards himself. The charities Cards for Good Causes supports include Perennial and local charities Herefordshire Wildlife Trust and St Michael’s Hospice.
Staffed by a team of local volunteers, the Hereford pop-up shop is part of a network of over 300 temporary shops run by Cards for Good Causes, the UK’s largest multi-charity Christmas card organisation. It represents more than 250 charities including Perennial, Cancer Research UK, Barnardo’s, NSPCC, Alzheimer’s Society and RNLI.
Shoppers in Hereford can choose from hundreds of different Christmas card designs, as well as traditional advent calendars and candles, wrapping paper, gift tags, napkins and stocking fillers.
