Guests at the annual Society of Garden Designers (SGD) Awards on 29 January 2016 heard from awards host Joe Swift about the work of Perennial and how the horticulture trade charity helps all horticulturists, before being asked to ‘dig deep’. An incredible £2,532.35 was donated to the official Awards Charity partner for the evening; more than £1,000 than in 2015 with more than twice as many people donating this year.
Speaking about the support shown by the garden design industry at the Awards, Perennial Development Manager Kate O’Shea said,
“Our ongoing relationship with the Society of Garden Designers, and the increased support shown for Perennial at this year’s Awards event, reflects the fantastic partnership ethos we are encouraging within our industry. The amount raised this year indicates a further increase in awareness and support for the only charity working to support all horticulturists in times of crisis. We are hugely grateful to everyone who donated at the event and congratulate all the winners and finalists, many of whom are Perennial Partners and supporters in their own right. We look forward to continuing to work with the SGD to promote the services Perennial offers all horticulturists, including garden designers, and to encourage more companies to get involved with raising awareness and much needed funds for the charity.”
Philippa O’Brien, Chair of the Society of Garden Designers said,
“Perennial is a really great charity, if you haven’t already signed up for one of their crazy fund raising events this year – cycle rides across most of Britain, sky diving, mud wrestling – whatever, Perennial want more support! They need us to do really ridiculous things in their name and collect money from sponsors. Or you could just send them a big cheque.”
