Hutton Wandesley Walled Garden was started in March 2022 with the hard landscaping and the initial layout of the garden and paths. The garden has been designed with a strong influence from the original drawings dating back to 1874 when Edward York bought the Estate. The drawings show a quadrant design which Sasha York chose to honour and follow.

There are four main areas to the garden including a cutting garden full of narcissi, tulips & alliums followed by roses in June and dahlias in August; a parterre garden planted with box plants that frame swathes of colourful Verbena bonariensisAstrantia ‘Florence’ and Salvia nemorosa ‘Caradonna’; a lawn area for recreational space; and a perennial meadow garden. Planting in the latter includes Calamagrostis acut. ‘Karl Foerster’, Echinacea purpureaEchinacea pallidaEupatorium maculatumMollinia caerulus ‘Heidebraut’, Mollinia arundinacea and Stipa tenuissima ‘Pony Tails’.

Guided tour with lunch.
