Anyone who’s had a bank loan, car finance, credit or store card, catalogue account, mortgage or secured loan, in the last 30ish years may have had PPI without even realising it – for example, it was common practice for the sales assistant to tick the “yes to PPI” box themselves, without even asking you if you needed it, or you may have been told that you wouldn’t be approved for the loan without it.
If you don’t know whether you have had PPI, the Financial Conduct Authority website allows you to check for free – www.fca.org.uk – all you need to get started is your name, date of birth, and current/previous addresses. Don’t leave it too late though – it can take up to 8 weeks to get a reply and you must follow this up with a complaint before 29th August 2019.
|! Be careful about claiming on an old debt which still has a balance owing or which was partially written off – the debt itself is probably unrecoverable but claiming PPI on it can reactivate it.|
It’s very easy to reclaim PPI yourself – the MoneySavingExpert has some useful information and templates on their website: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance/

If you are/were a horticulturist you can contact our Debt Advice Line and one of our qualified debt advisers can give you further advice and make a claim on your behalf if appropriate. We don’t charge and all the claim comes directly to you (less anything you still owe on the loan). We have made many successful claims over the past few years.
