Duty Supervisor - Fullers Mill Garden
To lead on the opening and closing of the garden to visitors and supervise the operational elements of the day to day running and supervise staff and volunteers. This is a customer facing role, undertaking tasks, including: Visitor admissions, serving refreshments, using POS tills, handling cash, replenishing stock and assisting volunteers.
Fixed term until 31 October 2025
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the designated responsible person during duty shifts, ensuring the safe and timely opening and closing of the garden and a welcoming environment for all visitors.
- Greet and assist visitors, delivering a consistently high standard of customer service across all visitor areas.
- Actively promote Perennial and its membership scheme when appropriate.
- Oversee and maintain the highest standards of food hygiene and safety within the café.
- Take customer orders and serve food and beverages, including teas, coffees, and cakes.
- Carry out regular stock takes of the café and ensure rotation of stored items.
- Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems for admissions, café and retail, including end-of-day cashing-up procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with staff and volunteers, providing leadership and guidance to teams during duty shifts.
- Liaise with teams across Perennial to support consistent and effective communication.
- Adhere to all Perennial policies, including those relating to Health and Safety and Equal Opportunities.
- Undertake additional duties as required to support the effective operation of Fullers Mill Garden.

Hours of work: 30 hours per week working 4 out of a 7 day a week on a rota basis.
Salary: £
Holidays: 25 days per annum, plus bank holidays, pro-rata for part-time. Fixed term, ending when the Garden closes on the 31st October. Regular weekend and Bank Holiday working. Typical weekend working pattern will be 3 on, 1 off.
Pension: The Charity offers a pension scheme in line with the Pensions Act 2008 regarding auto-enrolment.
Other: Sick Pay, Death in Service Benefit (3x salary). Perennial has a number of well-established, family-friendly policies, including ‘buying’ extra (unpaid) leave, time off for dependents, variations to normal working hours. Further details available on request.
General Considerations: All Perennial jobs are subject to a probationary period (6 months) and a periodic review.
Smoking: In the interests of health and safety, Perennial operates a non-smoking policy on its premises and expects staff not to smoke in company vehicles.
