Make a lasting tribute to your loved one by giving a donation to Perennial in their memory.
In-memory giving, otherwise known as In-Memoriam or tribute giving, helps your loved one to keep a link to their chosen charity after they have passed away, and can make a meaningful alternative to flowers. A gift donated in memory of your loved one can help you to remember them in a positive way by knowing that your generosity will bring hope to others.
Your gift will go towards providing support and advice for people who work in horticulture, and their families, when they fall upon hard times. In an industry which is often low paid and prone to injury, this could mean helping a tree surgeon who has a loss of income due to an injury, or helping a gardener back into work after they have been made redundant. Your support will make a difference to someone’s life, and is a special way of remembering your loved one.
How to make an in-memory donation
You can include a request in your will if you would like your family and friends to make donations to Perennial, and these can be made both ‘in lieu of’, or as well as, flowers. Talk to your solicitor who will be able to advise you on this further. Most undertakers will organise In-Memoriam giving as part of their service if requested, or you or your executor can set up a tribute fund using sites such as Just Giving or Much Loved. If you prefer, donations can also be sent directly to Perennial.
If you are not organising the funeral, talk to the family or friends who are doing so as they may be able to let you know of any arrangements which they have already made for you to make an in-memory donation. If you send funds directly to Perennial, please do provide the name of the deceased so that we can notify the family of your kindness.
Types of Gift
Most in-memory gifts are one-off donations made directly to the undertakers or to the family, via our website or through an external webpage set up to administer gifts in this way. If you decide to support us with a gift over £2,500, you will be entitled to join our major donor programme, if you wish to, which will give you access to a wide range of benefits such as visits to rarely open gardens and annual dinners with our Chairman.
If you would like to provide regular support, you can set up a standing order directly with your bank, or create a direct debit, which can be done here.
If you are a UK taxpayer you may be able to gift aid your donation which means we can claim back the basic rate of tax which you have paid on any charity donations, totalling 25p for every £1 that you donate. If you would like to find out more about how to gift aid your donation then please contact us.
