Caseworker (Scotland)
We are looking for a caseworker in Scotland to join our busy team. You will need to be a holistic practitioner, experienced at undertaking assessments and developing case work plans to address causal issues. We are looking for a highly organised person, responsive to the changing needs of service delivery and motivated by continuous improvement.
Purpose of the Role:
To create better futures for horticulturists and their families by delivering advice, information, and support.
Our Services Team aim to meet practical needs while addressing underlying issues and building resilience.
Work involves:
- Identifying solutions for individuals and families
- Coordinating multi-source support
- Following up on implemented solutions
- Using an outcome Star to measure success both internally and externally

About you
- You will be a holistic practitioner with working experience in:
- Assessments using evidence based tools to support and measure long term sustainable change
- Developing casework plans to address root causes
- Being highly organised, adaptable to changing service needs, and motivated by continuous improvement.
- Working remotely, both independently and collaboratively.
- Travelling to meetings, networking and Service Users appointments when required.
- Giving advice regarding employment, welfare services, health, and social care.
- Providing confident and accurate information via a helpline, using a triage system and signposting when appropriate.
Person Specification
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
- Ability to analyse and interpret complex information to produce concise reports, accurate case records, and high-quality correspondence.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage fluctuating workloads, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines while delivering agreed outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills, demonstrating empathy, discretion, and effectiveness when supporting individuals in challenging or traumatic circumstances and from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- A sound understanding of GDPR and how it is relevant to Service Users.
- Skilled in active listening and questioning techniques to identify needs, uncover underlying issues, and inform case management plans.
- Competence in creating clear, accessible resources such as factsheets, briefings, and guidance materials relevant to service delivery.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and experienced in using databases for accurate record-keeping and reporting.
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding frameworks and legal and welfare issues relating to children and vulnerable adults.
- Ability to evaluate and improve own performance, ensuring services meet quality standards and agreed outcomes.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and working in a non-judgmental, professional manner.
- Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize workloads and adapt to changing demands.#
- Strong interpersonal skills to build collaborative relationships with colleagues, volunteers, partner organisations, external agencies, and service users.

Location: Home based, Scotland. You will need to live in the area for the role for which you are applying.
Salary: c.£33,000 per annum
Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week, – including some weekends and overnight stays.
Pension: Perennial operates an auto-enrolment pension scheme and will match employee contributions up to the statutory amount. Details of the scheme will be available following a formal offer of employment.
Holidays: 25 days holiday per annum plus normal bank holidays (with increases for long service)
General: Sick Pay, Death in Service Benefit (3x salary). Perennial has a number of well-established, family-friendly policies, including ‘buying’ extra (unpaid) leave, time off for dependents, variations to normal working hours. Further details available on request.
General Considerations: All Perennial jobs are subject to a probationary period (6 months) and a periodic review.
Smoking: In the interests of health and safety, Perennial operates a non-smoking policy on its premises and expects staff not to smoke in company vehicles.
