The Barn Garden
Garden tour and lunch included.
Visit the Barn Garden and Orchard Plant Library, at Serge Hill in Hertfordshire. Tour the gardens with a welcome and introduction with landscape architect, Tom Stuart-Smith. Tom has designed gardens, parks and landscapes throughout the world, along with eight award winning gardens for the Chelsea Flower Show. All of which received gold medals and three ‘Best in Show’.
The Barn Garden has been developed by Tom and Sue Stuart-Smith over the last 35 years. The main garden is surrounded by a native meadow of trees and wildflowers. There is also a courtyard evolved from Tom’s 2006 Chelsea flower show garden as well as an exotic meadow sown in 2011.
The Orchard Plant Library is situated near the Barn Garden and set out in a grid system which holds more than 1200 different varieties of mainly herbaceous plants, serving as an interactive catalogue and community of plants that can be walked through and studied from all angles. Varieties and species can be compared, and combinations of form, texture, foliage and flower can be observed and appreciated.
Lunch will be at a venue nearby.
