Following the success of last year's exhibition, Fullers Mill is proud to once again showcase the work of renowned Ukrainian artist Andriy Nekrasov. An Honoured Artist of Ukraine and member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, Andriy is currently residing in the UK under the Homes for Ukraine scheme.

The exhibition will run from 27th July to 8th September and will be open to the public on Wednesdays from 2-5pm, and Fridays to Sundays from 11am-5pm at Fullers Mill in Suffolk, one of Perennial’s gardens. Perennial, the charity dedicated to supporting those in horticulture, offers free support, advice, and information to all UK residents who work, or have worked, with plants, trees, grass, or flowers.

About Andriy

Andriy, who spent his childhood in the Kyiv region of Ukraine, was inspired to paint by the stunning views of the blue Dnieper river and surrounding golden meadows. He studied under Ukrainian artists Nartsis Kocherezhko and Vasyl Korchynskyi, developing a painting style that combines vibrant colours and bold palette knife strokes on large canvases. His work includes still life, seascapes, city and natural landscapes, and many scenes from Crimea, the Carpathians, and Odessa. A veteran of numerous international exhibitions, Andriy’s pieces are featured in private collections across Europe.

In September 2022, Andriy and his family arrived in the UK under the Homes for Ukraine scheme. By fortunate coincidence, Andriy’s UK host is a long-term volunteer at Fullers Mill, the award-winning garden owned and maintained by Perennial. This tranquil waterside garden, located on the banks of the River Lark and Culford Stream, boasts a plantsman’s collection of flora and woodland, regularly enjoyed by visitors.

Andriy's paintings

Inspired by the unique atmosphere, Andriy captured the essence of Fullers Mill in his first canvas and was subsequently offered the role of Artist in Residence, which he happily accepted. Many more canvases have followed, which will be on display throughout the exhibition and available for purchase. A portion of the proceeds from the painting sales will be donated to hospitals for the National Guards of Ukraine and Perennial.

Fullers Mill Garden Manager, Gary Bean, says: “We’re delighted to welcome Andriy back for his second year as Artist in Residence at Fullers Mill. The paintings in his exhibition perfectly capture the essence of Fullers Mill through their use of colour and texture. We hope visitors appreciate the work that has gone into both the art and the garden, supporting Andriy, the people of Ukraine, and those in horticulture.”

Viewing is included as part of visitor entry to the garden and booking is not required. Special arrangements for groups can be made in advance.

All artwork on display in the exhibition is available to buy, along with prints in the gift shop. Please ask staff for details.
