Mark Taylor, Managing Director of Allensmore Nurseries was honoured in 2024 by Perennial for initiating the Plants for Perennial campaign that has raised over £30,000 since its inception just 3 years ago.

On receiving our Silver Shovel Award in recognition of this initiative, Mark told us more about his support for Perennial and hopes for the future.

“We are fortunate to work within such a great industry, and work hard to support all our staff. All new starters and current staff at Allensmore are given details about Perennial in case they need support. It is a challenging industry to work in because it is so seasonal.

The huge Spring peak can be stressful for everyone involved so looking after staff mental health is a key element that Perennial help with and I would strongly urge other organisations to get involved in supporting Perennial which is a way of supporting staff in ways that are not always easy for employers to achieve.

We're proud to support the charity as a Gold Perennial Partner as well as via the Plants for Perennial initiative."

Plants for Perennial continues to grow and, alongside plants from Allensmore, Bransford Webbs, Wyevale and New Leaf Plants, 2026 will see FP Matthews contribute to the campaign with a Crab Apple Tree.
