Industry Supporters
Our sincere thanks to our major supporters who help make Perennial's work possible. Their ongoing commitment enables us to provide vital support to people working in horticulture and ensures we can continue to develop and expand our services to meet the changing needs of the industry.
Celebrating 40 years of partnership with The National Garden Scheme
This July, York Gate Garden hosted a VIP event marking 40 years of partnership with the National Garden Scheme, including the presentation of a letter from Perennial's Patron, HRH Princess Alexandra, to CEO Dr Richard Claxton. The National Garden Scheme has been a steadfast supporter of Perennial and is now our largest single donor, having contributed more than £2.6 million since 1986. This remarkable generosity has helped Perennial evolve and expand its services, ensuring that people working in horticulture, and their families, can access specialist support whenever they need it.
The National Garden Scheme raises charitable funds through the opening of over 3,300 exceptional private gardens across England, including both of Perennial’s gardens – Fullers Mill & York Gate. As a Perennial garden, York Gate has opened for the National Garden Scheme for 30 years, which was also recognised during the event with the presentation of a commemorative plaque.
Regular annual donations from the National Garden Scheme over 40 years have been instrumental in enabling Perennial to expand the services we provide and significantly increase the number of people we support.
Thank you to everyone involved with The National Garden Scheme for their ongoing support, especially the people that open their gardens each year for charity and the volunteers who support these events.
Perennial and NGS talk about their partnership
Scotland's Garden Scheme supporting us since 1970
We are delighted to have received a £24,000 donation from Scotland’s Gardens Scheme (SGS), based on funds raised during its 2025 garden-opening season. As one of SGS’s three core charities, alongside the Queen’s Nursing Institute Scotland and Maggie’s, we are incredibly grateful for this generous and ongoing support, receiving a total of £245,945 in donations, over the years.
SGS brings together garden owners, volunteers and visitors across Scotland to raise money for charity. Through garden admission, plant sales and refreshments, its 2025 open days raised £315,500. Garden owners may nominate a charity or local good cause to receive up to 60% of the funds raised at their opening, while the remaining share supports SGS and its core charities.
This contribution helps us continue providing free and confidential support to people working in, or retired from, horticulture and their families.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in SGS - from the garden owners who open their gates and the volunteers who make each event possible, to every visitor who comes along!
