Shepherd’s Delight at Welsh Meidrim Meadows

plus a Costal Foraging course and visit to Aberglasney Gardens

A two-night stay for up to two adults and two children at this dreamy shepherd’s hut in West Wales.

Tucked away in a private 4.5-acre meadow on the outskirts of the quiet village of Meidrim, this cosy shepherd’s hut is a dreamy, design-led escape for couples or small families. Inside, there’s a king-size bed dressed in crisp linen, a wood-burning stove to keep things toasty, and clever space-saving features like optional bunk beds or a cosy seating area. A fully equipped kitchenette and ensuite bathroom make for a comfortable, self-contained stay, while skylight windows frame views of the big open skies.

Outside, the pace slows. Cook over the handcrafted firepit with built-in BBQ, eat at the picnic table, and watch the stars appear — with no light pollution, they’re spectacular here. Ideally placed for walking trails, beaches and foodie spots across Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, this is wild luxury done right.

Based in South West Wales, renowned Coastal Forager Craig Evans and his faithful Golden Retriever Llew (Welsh for Lion) are bringing coastal education and sustainability to the public with his Coastal Foraging Courses in an ethical and accessible way. You may choose from one of the following Classic courses where you will meet at an arranged time and location, and set out the timetable for the day ahead, followed by a brief Q&A session.

For around six hours or so, you will forage for our wild delicacies. If circumstances permit, you'll endeavour to cook some of our discoveries so that you can appreciate the flavours of the coast.

Course types:

  • Beach and rocky shore: Rockpool safari, various shellfish, sea vegetables, crustaceans
  • Tidal mud flats and estuaries: Clams, cockles, oysters, sea vegetables including marsh samphire
  • Sand Dunes system (mostly educational): cockles, clams, specialist sand dune plants like Sea Holly (protected)

Also enjoy a visit for two adults (children up to age 16 are free) to nearby Aberglasney Gardens, one of Wales' finest gardens showcasing a wealth of flowers and trees.
