Helen Auty has been a loyal and passionate supporter of Perennial for over 20 years, making an invaluable contribution to the success of our Special Events, more recently known as the Exclusive Garden Tour programme.

Also a regular attendee at the garden tours, Helen brings with her not only a wealth of knowledge about gardens but also a generosity of spirit, always eager to share her insights and ideas. Her introductions to notable supporters such as Prue Leith and the Timpson family have been instrumental in strengthening Perennial’s network and her enthusiasm ensures the charity continues to thrive within the wider horticultural community.

Beyond her presence at events, Helen goes above and beyond by actively seeking out opportunities to enrich Perennial’s work. She regularly scouts national garden magazines for features and stories that may inspire the Exclusive Garden Tour programme, thoughtfully forwarding these to the Events Team to explore further.

Helen’s dedication, foresight and unwavering advocacy have made her a cherished member of the Perennial family. Her continued support is a testament to her belief in Perennial’s and what they do and it is with huge gratitude that she is recognised today.

Helen said: "I was totally astonished when I heard my name announced. I assumed I was at that table because Perennial had one spare seat and knew that I wouldn’t let the side down! I admire Perennial for several reasons:
It seems to me that once a caseworker has been allocated to someone in horticulture, not only will they know exactly what help is available but they will also stay with the person/family until everyone is up and running again.
I find all the Leatherhead staff I’ve met tremendously friendly and welcoming and a delight to deal with. Perennial offer great opportunities to visit gardens not otherwise open to the public and often meeting the owners and/or their head gardeners - A chance for a most enjoyable day out in different parts of the country whilst helping people in horticulture – a double plus."
