Robin Redmile-Gordon, the owner of the beautiful Ichi-Coo Park, has shown generous and enthusiastic support for Perennial, championing the charity’s work to protect and sustain those who dedicate their lives to horticulture.
By raising awareness and standing alongside Perennial, Robin and Ichi-Coo Park demonstrate a commitment not only to the creation and maintenance of exceptional outdoor spaces but also to the wellbeing of the people behind them.
As well as being a wonderful Perennial Partner, Robin has hosted events on behalf of Perennial and generously donated profits from his own events.
Robin kindly donated a private tour of his stunning garden as one of our auction lots at the Dig Deep Fundraising Lunch.
His support is a powerful example of how businesses can combine passion for their industry with meaningful social responsibility.
Robin said: "I hold deep respect for professional benevolent associations. My father died when I was 16, leaving my mother to support three grammar school boys with basics like clothing, food, and shelter - remarkably, she succeeded. Extras, such as my A-level textbooks, were a stretch. The Chartered Accountants Benevolent Association stepped in, and I’ve never forgotten their generosity.
Discovering a similar organisation for gardeners in tough times felt like serendipity guiding me. I adore the people and their work; no better group for me to assist.
Incidentally, after skimming the textbooks, I repacked them in their box, took them by train to Foyle’s in London, exchanged for a token, and spent it on records upstairs. I’ve never looked back.”
