Types of gifts

There are three main types of gifts, also known as a legacy, you can leave in your will. Perennial relies on such gifts – whatever the size, each gift makes a big difference

1.Percentage share or Residuary

You choose a percentage share of your estate to gift to charity. This type of gift is the most valuable because it is inflation proof.

The percentage share is calculated after any specified gifts to family and friends have been made. This ensures your loved ones are looked after first.

2.Lump Sum or Pecuniary

A specific fixed amount of money. This can lose it’s value over time due to the impact of inflation.

3. Specific

A gift of a particular item, such as a car, jewellery, land, buildings or stocks and shares.

We receive all kinds of gifts in people’s wills and are grateful for all types of support.

If you do choose to leave a gift in your will to Perennial, we strongly recommend you contact a solicitor, who can advise you and help you with the exact wording you need to make a gift in your will. The details below give an idea of how a pledge could be drafted.
