Gardens of Garden Close

Award-winning garden designer Lucy Willcox invites us for a rare tour of two private gardens she designed - each exemplifying her bold, contemporary aesthetic and refined planting approach.

Lucy has created celebrated gardens across the UK since 2007. She was featured in Alan Titchmarsh’s Gardening Club on ITV in 2024, and her Strand Roof Terrace won a Principal BALI Award. Her designs have appeared in the national press and were finalists in the Society of Garden Designers Awards.

At the first garden, a 1960s bungalow is embraced by a naturalistic, modern landscape that flows from courtyard to wild edge. Seasonal planting echoes the surrounding heath and shifts from structured forms to looser, wilder drifts.

The second, designed for a design-savvy couple, is a series of outdoor rooms reflecting the home’s modernist architecture. Thoughtfully composed views and sun-following spaces create a garden designed for year-round beauty and everyday living.
