2021 Seasonal Opening Times
Garden and Nursery open 14 April – 31 October | Wednesday –Sunday | 11am –4.30pm. We are also open on bank holiday Mondays. Book your slot here or call 0113 267 8240.
To maintain social distancing, we need to limit the numbers in the garden. Please pre book tickets for everyone in your party including children and regardless of special offers such as 2-for-1 entry. Payment will be taken on entry at the garden. The garden will be operating a cashless system, so please bring your card and use contactless payments where possible.
Cafe open and gifts available all year | Wednesday –Sunday | 10am–5pm (last orders 4.30pm). The cafe will be open for takeaway with a reduced menu and outdoor seating available. Please note, we are unable to take bookings.
Please note, York Gate garden and gift shop will be closed on 14 July for filming. The cafe and plant nursery will remain open.

- Gardeners’ World 2-for-1 Card. Please pre book tickets for everyone in your party here. Payment will be taken at the garden and discounts will be applied on presentation of your 2-for-1 card. Please note the card is not transferable.
- Yorkshire’s Great Houses Castles and Gardens, Family or Staff Pass. Please bring your pass with you to validate your booking.
We kindly ask that you make your way around the garden during your allocated slot before visiting the cafe, gift shop and plant nursery in order for us to maintain social distancing.
There will be limited toilet facilities available on site.
There will be a clearly marked one-way system around the garden for your safety.
Please observe social distancing rules in all parts of the garden.
If you have symptoms of Coronavirus (high temperature, new continuous cough, loss of taste or smell), please don’t visit – we’ll still be here to welcome you when you’re symptom free again!
Free guided heritage tours around the garden run during busier times.
The companion of a disabled visitor is admitted free of charge, but please be aware that the garden is difficult for visitors who are solely reliant on a wheelchair due to the narrow paths and gravel surfaces.
Unfortunately we are unable to allow dogs or any other pets at York Gate, apart from assistance dogs.
Back Church Lane
York Gate is just 15 minutes’ drive from Leeds city centre, 30 minutes’ drive from Harrogate, Bradford and Ilkley and only 45 minutes from York. The garden is 2¼ miles southeast of Bramhope, just off the A660. We have plenty of onsite parking.
No.28 Leeds, Liberty Dock – Adel Take the no.28 until it terminates at Adel ‘village shop’. Continue along the road, turn left into Back Church Lane and York Gate will be on your right. It’s a 10 minute walk.
No.1 Leeds Centre – Holt Park & No. X84 Leeds – Skipton Take the bus to Otley Road. Walk back up Otley Road for 70m, then turn left onto Church Lane and left again at the T junction. Continue to Adel Church, then follow the path through the churchyard on your right. Continue straight with the church hall on the left. It’s a 15 minute walk.
