Perennial helps Dunkirk veteran stay independent

“Life is now so much easier since Perennial has been involved and I know that if I have any other issues in the future they shall still be there to help.”

Raymond Whitwell was part of the rear guard at Dunkirk 80 years ago. Left on the beach when no boat came back for them, he made his way down through France and managed to jump on board a Dutch fishing boat back to England.

After the war ended Raymond worked in horticulture as a nurseryman and seed merchant before deciding to retire aged 90!

“Perennial have helped me no end, I wasn’t able to get out any more without help and I value my independence. Perennial have got me a scooter so I can now go out every day, I can do my own shopping and pay my bills without having to ask for help.

Their caseworker also managed to increase my income so I don’t have to worry about paying my bills any more. I found her easy to talk to and she didn’t make any promises that she didn’t keep. Life is now so much easier since Perennial has been involved and I know that if I have any other issues in the future they shall still be there to help. I am indebted to Perennial for my scooter as it makes me independent; I can do all my shopping. Thank you.”
